Gevher Nesibe Çeşmesi

Location: It is located in the south-west corner of the Çifte Madrasa in the Mimar Sinan Park, in the Gevher Nesibe District, in the Kocasinan District of Kayseri. (Original location; approximately 5.00 m south of the same madrasa and next to the two crown gates)

Current status: Used today.

History: Considering the architectural features of the Gevher Nesibe fountain, it should probably have been built in the 17th century. There is no construction inscription on the work. There are only inscriptions belonging to the repairs made in H. 1141 / M.1728 and H.1288 / M.1871.

Plan and Architectural Features: The single arched fountain was built independently. It is a vertical rectangular prismatic structure. The fountain niche in the deep is limited by the columns embedded in the wall on the sides, and the spherical cover covering the niche is formed by radiating the stones. The profiled round arch of the fountain sits on these colonnades.

Decoration: The profiled moldings, the rosette on the mirror stone and the sultan's signature can be mentioned in the fountain.

Material and Technique: Marble was used in the inscriptions and smooth cut stone was used in the other parts of the fountain. The terraces of the fountain and the water trough have not survived to the present day.

Inscription: There is no construction inscription on the work. The four-line inscription between the eaves and the arch is written in talik script.
