The
Gülük Mosque and Madrasa, located in the Gülük District of Melikgazi
District, was built in the first half of the 12th century, and the structure
is in good condition today. The building, which is in harmony with the mosque
in the east and the madrasah in the west, constitutes a social complex
together with the hammam, which was built by Kölük Şemseddin and is in a
dilapidated state today.
On the north-eastern crown gate and north gate of the mosque, low reliefs
on stone draw attention. The most ornate element of the building, which is
very plain in general, is the tile altar that was added to the mosque later
on. The geometric and herbal decoration of this mihrab, which keeps the
Seljuk tradition alive both in technique and motifs, is used together with
the mosaic tile technique.
