A few stelae, a large statue and sculpture fragments belonging to the Late Hittite period were found near Kululu District of Akkışla District of Kayseri. All of them are related to the regional Tabal kingdom and date from approximately 8th century BC and are exhibited in the Kayseri Archaeological Museum. Excavations and surveys were carried out in Kululu Karatepe, Sitadelin by Prof Tahsin Özgüç in 1967. As a result of scientific studies, it has been understood that the settlement belongs to the earliest Late Hittite civilization, and that it was heavily inhabited later in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. It has been observed that the building remains belonging to the Late Hittite period were largely destroyed in the later periods.
