The announcement of the name of Kayseri's district Bünyan in carpet business begins with the growth of Bünyan as a settlement. While carpet production increased with the increase in population in the XVIII and XIX Centuries, the breakthrough in carpet business took place in the XX century (in the years 1914-1916). Before that, while rug, silk carpet weaving and woolen carpet weaving were carried out together in Bünyan, kilim looms were completely adapted to carpet weaving in these days, while rug and silk carpet weaving disappeared. The use of root dye continued for a while, and with the establishment of the Bünyan Carpet Yarn Factory in 1926, it lost its importance. The basis of Bünyan carpet weaving is of Central Asian origin, and it has completed its development phase with the forcing of social, economic and cultural changes in Anatolia over time. From 1908-1909, fabricated wool yarn dyed with artificial dyes and cotton yarn were used as materials in Bünyan carpets. Bünyan carpets have an average of 16-30 loops per cm2. The higher the number of loops per cm2 of the carpet, the better the quality. The fact that the color red, known as the favorite color of the Turks in Bünyan carpets, is a symbol of wealth and nobility, has caused this color to be used frequently. Bünyan handmade carpet received the Mahreç mark on 14.11.1997.
